YOGURT FORECASTS IN ITALY: FUNCTIONAL AND SMALL FORMATS ARE REWARDED

In 2022, 476,000 tons of yoghurt were sold in the retail channel, for a value of over 2.2 billion euros. The market is highly fragmented in terms of market shares and, at the same time, populated by brands with extremely clear and distinctive positioning.

The growth forecasts to 2027 estimate average rates of +3.10% in value year on year, about 9 times higher than the volume estimates.

The so-called “Functional” products and small formats will drive the growth in value, against an overall stable consumption in terms of volume for the category. This confirms the recent trends which see, on the one hand, ever greater attention to healthy eating and, on the other, the search for smaller sizes due to reduced household dimensions, changes in consumption habits and the desire to reduce waste.
